Frankendolling is evil by shabuegah Frankendolling is evil by shabuegah
This will be used as logo for an action against frankendolling (stealing parts of existing dolls/bases to create your own doll/base).

edit: i think it means stealing parts from other peoples dolls and claim its your own work. for me, that makes sense too. so, don't steal other peoples work and your fine! if you have any questions just ask!

so are artstyles that rely on other media like say scrapbooks, collages and pop art stealing? plus i'm pretty sure kids who do this are just doing it for fun, i don't get why "artists" get so much butthurt from kids using their works... "artists" sure are a fickle bunch

You make a good point there. I think for it not to be stealing, you have to make the image quite different from the original, or say that you used parts from other dolls instead of telling others you drew it out of your own head. I see how it can be like a collage, because you're taking parts and putting them together to make something new. I think it's a really subjective topic. I'd say it's wrong to make money from other artists work without their permission, but if you put effort into making a nice collage it can be okay, and frankendolling is like a digital collage. It's just another way of creating something, which is the basis of art.

because not only is stealing wrong and illegal but the artist actually WORKED to make the art while the thief is just stealing that work and lying about who did it

of course you are just a troll so either you are too dumb or too eager for a fight to understand what i just sait

whoa whoa whoa there, its a bit early to accuse some random guy on a thread as being too dumb or trolling isn't it? its a legit argument and a legit question so i appreciate you not throwing insults like a butthurt little faggot who just got fucked in the ass

you download movies and MP3 songs in the internet too right? isn't that also "wrong and illegal?" my point is so what? its not like you're using these songs to make billions of dollars in a movie or publicly broadcasting the movies you downloaded from torrents... plus you haven't answered the question regarding pop art, you know? those collages that use pictures from magazines

i don't actually. just because you are a thief doesn't mean everyone else is and stealing is still stealing regardless of what you do with the things you stole and your insult is entirely ineffectual XD i am a 'faggot' and by the way you are totally right, being gay does mean you have sex in the ass congrats on paying attention in health class. -claps-

I am trying to work out what Frankendolling is, because I haven't got a clue. But from what I have gathered does it mean (basic) example;
Take a head from one artist 'artist1'
torso from a second 'artist 2'
arms and legs from a third 'artist 3'
Then assemble artist 1,2 & 3's work into a new base by 'artist4' and then 'artist4' posts this work to Deviantart and claims it as theirs without crediting artist 1,2, or3??

Some people I follow on deviantart also make bases and they always put no Frankendolling...

I know what it is, it is putting pieces of other bases on one base, it can be small like wings, or big like a whole person

Would referring to several different pictures and bases for your own work be counted as frankendolling? For instance if you didn't know how to draw an arm say and then look at how someone else had done theirs to help? not copying exactly to the point of tracing though :o

I just started using bases not long ago. I was starting a new one and I remembered Frankendolling. I did not like the way the head looked so I made the whole head look different on paint (and did it on my own.) But what I am saying is I though changing something on a base like a head or other parts meant frankendooling. I did not think that it meant using other bases for your own. That is really disgusting. Like if an arm is strange to me I decide to change it by making it longer. Of course not using other bases or whatever. But just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing. lolz Thank you. XD And sorry for rambling.

As long as people give credit to ALL of the original base creators, I think it should be allowed.
But that's just my opinion. :D
